Google did not wait for your Q4 planning meeting.

Through September 2026, Google has been automatically migrating eligible Search campaigns that still rely on campaign-level broad match or legacy Automatically Created Assets to AI Max. At the same time, Search Console’s Generative AI performance report is now available worldwide, showing when your pages appear inside AI Overviews and AI Mode. For UAE B2B teams running Google Ads into Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the wider GCC – and publishing for buyers who research before they enquire – those two changes belong in the same conversation.

This is not another “embrace AI” pep talk. It is a practical playbook for what to check, what to ignore, and what to fix before platform automation decides your narrative for you.

Why this month matters

AI Max expands Google’s control over search-term matching, text customization, and related automation. Eligible campaigns using older broad-match or Automatically Created Assets settings have been moving across September without an opt-in. Dynamic Search Ads sit on a later track – automatic upgrade into early 2027 – but the September wave is already live for the earlier legacy settings.

On the organic side, Google’s guidance is blunt: generative AI features in Search still rest on core SEO. A page must be indexed and eligible to show a snippet. There is no special “AI schema,” no llms.txt requirement, and no placement you can buy. What has changed is measurement. As of 31 August 2026, the Generative AI performance report rolled out worldwide, with impressions by page, country, device, and date.

Paid Search is getting more automated; organic AI visibility is finally measurable. The shared dependency is clear offers, clear pages, and clean conversion data.

Step 1: Baseline paid Search before you judge AI Max

Do not declare success or failure from a single post-migration week. Establish a pre-migration baseline first.

  • Identify campaigns that used campaign-level broad match or Automatically Created Assets.
  • Export search terms, conversions, cost per conversion, and branded versus non-branded split for the prior 28 days.
  • Confirm tracking maps to real outcomes – qualified leads, forms, WhatsApp or call events – not vanity micro-conversions.
  • After migration, review Settings → AI Max and constrain features where brand safety or landing-page control matters.

Microsoft has also made AI Max generally available and on by default for new Search campaigns. Vendor lift claims are still vendor claims; your account baseline is what survives a CFO review.

Step 2: Use Search Console’s AI report without overreading it

The Generative AI report shows impressions inside AI features – not ROI. Use it as a visibility layer.

Weekly rhythm for UAE teams:

  1. Filter to United Arab Emirates (and other GCC markets you serve).
  2. Note which URLs appear most often in AI Overviews / AI Mode.
  3. Compare against standard Search performance. Stable impressions with softer clicks often means citation inside an answer, not a classic blue-link click.
  4. Check dates before panicking on mid-month impression cliffs; new surfaces can log imperfectly.

If a priority service page never appears, fix eligibility first: indexing, snippet controls (nosnippet, aggressive max-snippet), and any AI-features opt-out. Then ask whether the page answers the sub-questions buyers ask after the head term.

Step 3: Optimize for query fan-out, not keyword theatre

Google documents that AI Overviews and AI Mode use query fan-out: related sub-searches that gather supporting material before assembling an answer. Citation is no longer “rank #1 and you win.” Many cited URLs sit outside the traditional top 10 for the head query.

For B2B pages on digital marketing, websites, and AI automation:

  • Map one commercial keyword to follow-ups a UAE buyer asks: timelines, pricing ranges, Arabic/English delivery, post-kickoff steps, and when not to buy.
  • Put a direct, self-contained answer near the top of the section. Passages get lifted; vague introductions do not.
  • Prefer topical depth over near-duplicate long-tail pages. Google warns against scaled commodity content built mainly to manipulate AI responses.
  • Keep Google Business Profile (and Merchant Center, if relevant) accurate so local and product details can surface cleanly.

Skip what Google has dismissed for Search: special AI-only markup, rewriting everything into model-friendly “chunks,” and chasing inauthentic mentions.

Step 4: Make the website earn the click that still happens

AI answers reduce some clicks. They do not remove the need for a fast, credible destination when buyers do click – especially on mobile in the UAE.

Prioritize clear above-the-fold positioning; Core Web Vitals basics (image weight, unused JavaScript, third-party tags); GCC-friendly enquiry paths (short forms, WhatsApp where appropriate, bilingual clarity); and scannable headings. As platforms remove manual matching and placement levers, creative, offer, and landing experience remain the variables you still own.

Step 5: Automate measurement – not accountability

Useful near-term automations: alerts when AI impressions or Ads CPA move outside an agreed band; weekly digests combining search-term shifts with top AI-cited URLs; lead routing so enquiries reach a human with context. Know what your pixels send and what customer lists contain. “The platform suggested it” is not a defense.

A 30-day checklist

WeekFocus
Week 1Export paid baselines; confirm AI Max settings; verify conversions
Week 2Review Generative AI report by UAE/GCC; fix snippet or index blockers
Week 3Expand one priority topic into fan-out coverage with expert answers
Week 4Speed and conversion pass on the top three paid + organic landing pages

Unglamorous – and how you keep control while platforms centralize theirs.

Closing

September 2026 did not invent AI in Search. It made two things unavoidable for UAE B2B marketers: paid Search automation arrives whether you schedule it or not, and generative AI visibility is finally inspectable in Search Console. Digiweb247’s work sits at that intersection – measurable digital marketing, websites that convert on the devices buyers use, and AI automation that tightens operations without hiding accountability.

If you have not documented a pre-AI Max baseline or opened the Generative AI report filtered to the UAE, start there. The platforms have already moved. Your reporting and your pages can still catch up on purpose.
